Abstract: AssoonasTheStoryofPipawaspublished,theheroineZhaoWuniangwaswidelydisseminatedasatooltoeducatewomeninthemainstreamcultureoffeudalsociety,withtheimagesof“virtuouswife”,“filialwoman”and“chastewoman”.BehindZhaoWuniangspersonalimage,itstheoppressionandenslavementofwomenbythepatriarchalsocietyunderthecontroloffeudalethicsandmorality,aswellasthecollectivepsychologicaldistortionofthesocietyexposedfrom.SimonedeBeauvoirexpoundedthetheoryofwomensformationinTheSecondSex.PuttingthistheoryunderthebackgroundofthepatriarchalsocietyinancientChina,wewillfindthattheprocessfromZhaoWunianginTheStoryofPipatoZhaoWuniangwithsocialcollectiveconsciousnessisaprocessfromapersonwithphysiologicalsignificancetoaculturalsymbolwithsocialsignificance,theculturalsymbolisthe“perfectwomen”.ZhaoWuniang,asa“perfectwoman”,herexperiencemakesusreflectdeeplyontheissueofgenderequalitysinceancienttimes.
