Abstract: This paper briefly introduces the history and connotation of the development of figures ofspeech, and compares the similarities and differences between Chinese and English figures of speech.which are mainly caused by the differences in history, culture , social activities and customs. Taking theEnglish translation of the heroic epic of the Naxi nationality, the Wars between Black Kingdom and WhiteKingdom, as an example , based on the comparison of metaphor , exaggeration, personification and otherfigures of speech in Chinese and English, this paper analyzes in detail the translation methods and techniques of the above figures of speech. It is helpful to the English translation of figures of speech to probeinto the translation methods and skills of figures of speech commonly used in minority poetry.
