Discussing Teaching Paths and Methods of ESP in Higher Vocational Colleges in Yunnan Province

Abstract:

ESP(English for Specific Purposes) is an indispensable part of English teaching in vocational colleges.  Based on an analysis of talents cultivation and supply-demand relationship in Yunnan job markets,following teaching direction and goal of ESP,this paper discusses the diversified teaching paths and methods as follows:improving professional English teaching staff's qualification;setting up corresponding ESP courses;compiling professional English textbooks featured by localization,nationalization; building up an integrated“teaching,learning and doing”teaching mode and bringing in diversified teaching evaluation system. It aims to cultivate versatile talents equipped with English communication ability and technical skills to meet the need of the economic societies in Yunnan province.
