To get an insight into the overall willingness and motive of vocational college students in Yun-nan Province for rural entrepreneurship, as well as internal and external factors influencing students' prac-tice of rural entrepreneurship, a questionnaire-based survey and in-depth interviews with 850 vocationalcollege students were conducted to investigate their intention of rural entrepreneurship, followed by aquantitative analysis and qualitative study of the results. The results show that vocational college studentsin Yunnan Province generally hold a positive attitude towards rural entrepreneurship. The intention variesby gender, and male students tend to have a higher intention than that of the female students. However.no significant difference was found across different grades or disciplines. National policy, hometown development status, family support, startup funds, school entrepreneurship education and rural infrastruc-ture correlated with entrepreneurial intentions are major factors influencing employment intentions of voca-tional college students. For vocational college students, most urgently needed training in terms of ruralentrepreneurship is the situaion and task of new rural area construction, as well as training program spe-cially focusing on rural entrepreneurship.
