To solve the problem of roof maintenance in the original mining method in Gaojingcao iron mine,the paper put forward a mining scheme for shallow hole & mediumlengthhole shrinkage stoping method for roof protection with bolts.The orebody is divided into two layers,the upper layer is blasted by shallow hole while the lower layer is blasted by parallel mediumdeephole,andtheupperandlowerlayers are pushed from bottom to top simultaneously.The unstable roof is strengthened by an chorbolts.The mining scheme has been successfully applied to the mines:the miningcutting ratio of 1000 ton swas reduced by2.42m·kt
-1
,the comprehensive recovery was increased by5.2%,the mining efficiency up by 2.3t·shift
-1
,the production capacity increased by 120t·d
-1
,and the direct cost of mining has been reduced by5.6yuan·t
-1
.The improved scheme has higher practical value and economic benefits.

Thereareobviousdifferencesinstrengthparametersofexpansivesoilswithdifferentpropertiesorloadingconditionsduringexpansionandcontraction.Inordertopreliminarilyexploretherelationshipbetweenthestrengthparameterreductionandtheloadandtheswellingforceofthesoilitself,thestrengthparameterreductionexperimentsandthecorrelationexperimentsbetweentheswellingforceandthestrengthreductionwerecarriedout.Theexperimentalresultsshowthatwiththeincreaseofload,thedecreaseamplitudeofstrengthparametersdeclines,suchascohesionCvalueandinternalfrictionangledecreasedfrom72.32% and77.22% at5kPato34.93% and27.42% at40kPa,respectively;andthedecreaseamplitudeofexpansiveforceandstrengthparametergraduallypositivelycorrelatedwiththeincreaseofload.Theresultsshowthattheloadhasacontrollingeffectonthestrengthdrop,mainlyontheinhibitionoffracturedevelopment;thecorrelationbetweentheexpansionforceandthestrengthparameterdropisrelatedtotheloadstate;theratiooftheloadandtheexpansionforceisnegativelyrelatedtotheoveralltrendofthestrengthdrop.
