Abstract: Asoneofthemajortheoriesincognitivelinguistics,conceptualmetaphorhasreceivedlotsofattentionfromscholarshomeandabroadsinceitwasfirstbroughtup.Conceptualmetaphoriswidelyusedineconomicdiscourses,inwhichtheeconomistsutilizefamiliarandunderstandablecognitivedomaintoexplaintheunfamiliarandabstractcognitivedomain.Conceptualizationisrealizedthroughthemappingfromsourcedomaintotargetdomain.TakingthespecialcolumnChinainTheEconomistasanexample,thispaperaimstoanalyzethecategories&applicationofconceptualmetaphorineconomicdiscourses,hopingthatitisbeneficialforESPlearnerstoenhancetheirlexislearningandstylisticawareness.
