Abstract: Over the past decade since the initiation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the historicalachievements of sports events in Yunnan are primarily reflected in the enhancement of people-to-peopleconnectivity between China and countries in South and Southeast Asia, international economic and tradecooperation, and the mutual appreciation of diverse civilizations. However, the current challenges in-clude the need to improve regional cooperation mechanisms, strengthen the application of digital technolo-gies, and reinforce the concept of green development. Therefore, the following practical approaches areproposed: coordinating regional cooperation planning and emphasizing the exchange of sports talents; en-couraging events to embrace technology and enhancing digital innovation in sports; and fostering a solid foundation for green development to promote the ecological transformation of sports events.
