Abstract:
XishuangbannaDaipeoplebelieveinTheravadaBuddhism.ThetempleeducationhadbeencarryingthetaskofpropagatingBuddhismandinheritingDaiculturebeforeschooleducationinvolved.ThemodernschooleducationrepresentingtheofficialculturesystemandthetraditionaltempleeducationrepresentingthefolkculturesystemcoexistinDaiethnicgroupafterschooleducationgetinvolved.Butbecauseofthefundamentaldifferences,theyhaveconflictsintheprocessofculturalreproduction.Thus,thetempleeducationcontinuestodeclineandthedevelopmentofschooleducationisslow.Withcoexistenceconcept,thispaperexploresthenewpathofthesetwoculturaleducationsystems’harmoniouscoexistencefrom threeperspectives,namely,“tradition” and“modern”,“custom” and“system”,“folk”and“official”.
