Abstract: University is an important life stage to get knowledge and information through reading. It is al-so the best time to cultivate sentiment , broaden horizons and promote spiritual growth. However , the cur-rent situation of vocational college students' extracurricular reading is not good. Based on a sample surveyof reading behavior in Kunming Metallurgy College, the paper finds some problems: vocational collegestudents'interests in extracurricular reading arelow, reading is target-oriented and they have blind readingbehavior and superficial reading levels, etc. Facing these problems of current college students reading be-havior, how to guide reading has become an indispensable part of higher vocational education.
