Abstract: Takingresponsespectrumanalysisasanexample,thispaperdeducestherelationshipbetweentheseismicforcesandrigidityonpiers,anddrawsaseismicforcerigiditycurvegraph,aimingtoprovethatseismicforceonpiersincreasessharplyastherigidityincreaseswhenearthquakehappens.Takingabridgewithdefectsonitspiersasacase,itproposestwostrengtheningdesignschemes,andthencalculatestheinnerforcevariationofseismicresponseandpiers&pilefoundationrespectively.Itprovesthattheincreasingrigidityofpiershasadverseeffectsonthepilefoundationandaschemewithnochangeofrigidityshouldbechoseninstrongearthquakehitareas.
