Abstract: Comprehensively promoting the construction of "great ideological and political courses" is anessential requirement for the connotative development of ideological and political education in higher voca-tional colleges. With the ongoing reform of vocational education and the continuous advancement of indus-try-education integration, the practical teaching of ideological and political courses in higher vocationalcolleges must innovate and reform in alignment with the characteristics of vocational education and the de-velopment of technical and skilled talent. Guided by the concept of "Great Ideological and Political Cour-ses" and taking Kunming Metallurgy College as a representative case study, this article delves into thecore essence of practical teaching within this framework; systematically outlines the necessity and intrinsicvalue of reforming practical teaching in ideological and political courses; and emphasizes the need for in-novation in three key dimensions: teaching content, practical teaching bases, and teaching methodolo-gies. These efforts aim to enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education in higher voca-tional colleges and to fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.
