Abstract: As a cognitive tool, conceptual metaphor is used to conceptualization of abstract categories.Also, the usage of conceptual metaphor in political texts not only lets us rebuild the human conscious-ness, but it is also a strong mechanism, which penetrates into the consciousness. Therefore , political re-alities are constructed largely through metaphor. Based on President Xi's speech on CIlE, this paper triesto analyze the application of conceptual metaphor, in an attempt to find out that how the image of China -open and enterprising - is built through the following four types of metaphor; the Chinese economy as o-cean, China as the world's engine, China as human , and China as building.
