Abstract: Due to space limitation，thin seam mining operation is not only difficult to operate but also has poor economic returns.  Based on the investigation and analysis of the mining technology of ultra-thin coal seam in China，the applicable conditions of the main processes in the mining process are summarized
in this paper.  A scientific and systematic selection method is put forward by using the theory of value engineering，which can he used for reference in the mining of thin coal seam and the design.
