Abstract: In this paper, food grade silica was prepared by fractional precipitation process of prophasesulfuric acid precipitation and late carbonization precipitation. The influences of the end point pH of sulfuric acid precipitation, Na,Si0, concentration, reaction temperature and PEC 6000 addition amount onthe properties of silica were investigated. The results showed that the optimum conditions for the fraction-al precipitation of inorganic acid were: pH value of the end point of sulfuric acid precipitation was 9.5the concentration of Na,Si0, was 40 g/L, the reaction temperature was 80°C , and the additive PEC 6000was 2 g/L. Under this condition, the specific surface area and DBP oil absorption value of the productare 232. 7 m'/g and 2.87 cm’/g respectively, which meet the requirements of national food grade silica.
